Determining a substance by tritration Essay

Point: Utilizing the methodology of a standard corrosive base titration lab, the objective of this test is distinguishing the measure of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) that is introduced in a calcium carbonate substance introduced by our instructor. Theory: Because of any obscure substance that we experience in the science room, we should play it safe, as the substance might just be profoundly infectious and hazardous to smell, contact or taste legitimately. The main capacity that we forces that can be utilized to spectator this substance is our vision that is going to help us in deciding the centralization of the substance. Despite the fact that that with vision just, it won't do the trick the need that is important to make that judgment as we need quantitative information (finding the specific centralization of calcium carbonate). Except if we have earlier information about this substance, the procedures of a titration must be utilized. My speculation starts this has about 60% fixation. Factors: Autonomous Variable: There is none in this test. The objective of this lab isn't to incorporate any factors that will change the grouping of the calcium carbonate. We need steady outcomes for the grouping of the calcium carbonate, as that will decide the real centralization of the calcium carbonate in our substance. Subordinate Variable: The volume expected to titrate the calcium carbonate arrangement by utilizing the phenolphthalein marker. In spite of the fact that it is an unmistakable substance, the marker will change its shading into pink when the arrangement turns into a base from a corrosive. By deciding the measure of hydrochloric corrosive is expected to change the shade of the arrangement, we can decide the centralization of calcium carbonate through certain computations. Controlled Variables: 1. The Distilled Water: The refined water will be the main water that will be utilized during the whole examination. The refined water was arranged and despised by our instructor. 2. The calcium carbonate substance: The calcium carbonate substance was steady all through the whole analysis. 3. The Hydrochloric Acid: The hydrochloric corrosive was one of the fundamental segments of this test. Hence this corrosive was additionally arranged and introduced by the educator. 4. All Equipment: All similar types of gear, for example, the pipette and the channel paper were utilized all through the trial. Mechanical assembly: * Unknown white powdered substance * 50cm3 burette * 3 250cm3 Erlenmeyer cup * 200cm3 for hydrochloric corrosive * 0.1M of Sodium Hydroxide * Burette cinch * Retort stand * Distilled water * Goggles * Filter paper * A channel * Phenolphthalein pointer * A scale * Paper towel * A spoon * Pipette * Pipette sucker * White paper Technique: 1. First set up the answer stand and the counter clip as showed by the graph underneath. Obviously, the cup must be set up in the ensuing advances. Anyway not at all like the outline, place a white bit of paper underneath the flagon so the shading change turns out to be all the more effectively obvious. 2. In the wake of setting the paper towel and scaling the scale, measure out around 10.0 grams of the obscure substance and record the specific mass 3. Include 200cm3 of 1.00-mol dm-3 hydrochloric corrosive and mix until the response is finished. 4. Channel the arrangement and pull back 10cm3 utilizing a pipette and make up to 100 cm3 in a volumetric cup. 5. Titrate 10cm3 segments against a standard 0.1M NaOH utilizing the phenolphthalein pointer. 6. Record both quantitative and subjective information. 7. Rehash the procedure of titration multiple times. Perception (Data Collection): Estimations: * Mass of Calcium Carbonate arrangement: * Burette: Calcium Carbonate arrangement made utilizing 250cm3volumetric flagon with a vulnerability of ?0.5cm3 * Pipette: 25.0cm3 of 0.100moldm-3 NaOH(aq) ?0.04cm3 Synthetic Equations: Before we dig into the computations, it is best that we list the important concoction conditions of this lab. One must note that in this examination, that there were two substance responses. Right off the bat, the primary investigation happens when the white substance blended in with the HCl. The second compound response occurred when the HCl arrangement meets with the .1M of NaOH 1. 2. Subjective Data: Portrayal of the substance utilized and created Hydrochloric Acid Clear, thick, Calcium Carbonate White, powder structure Phenolphthalein Indicator Clear arrangement, arrives in a container, include as drops Arrangement Produced at long last Bubbly, white fluid, a large portion of the obscure blend broke down Clear/pink all through. Quantitative Data: Estimation Recorded During the Experiment Preliminary 1 2 3 4* Introductory Burette Reading (ml?0.05cm3) 0.00 0.00 0.00 0.00 Last Burette Reading (ml?0.05cm3) 5.45 5.90 5.60 5.40 *To note, for the estimations beneath, the chief at the time proposed the best information to utilize would be the normal of the HCl utilized on the grounds that the numbers discovered were exceptionally reliable. Counts The accompanying advances were taken so to discover the % by mass of CaCO3 in the blend 1. The moles of corrosive introduced in 200cm3of 1.00 mol dm-3hydrochloric corrosive. 2. The moles of corrosive introduced in 10cm3of the corrosive arrangement titrated. 0.00056molof HCl 3. Increase the volume present in the volumetric jar. 4. The complete moles acids staying after the response with CaCO3 5. Take away the incentive in 4 from that acquired in 1 to discover moles corrosive utilized. 6. The stochiometric condition for the response of HCl and CaCO3 Hydrochloric acid+Calcium carbonateâ€>Calcium chloride+water+Carbon dioxide - Therefore the molar proportion is 1 mole of calcium carbonate to 2 moles of hydrochloric corrosive 7. Utilizing this and the incentive in 5 to compute the moles of CaCO3 present. At that point ascertain the mass of CaCO3 8. Utilizing the worth found in sync 7 and the first mass of the blend, here is the figuring to discover percent of the blend is comprised of CaCO3 Vulnerabilities: * * * * All out Uncertainty= End: This investigation as a rule was exceptionally fascinating. During this lab, I had the option to learn of how we can distinguish the measure of a substance by knowing the fixation and volume of another. We had the option to do as such as we was already aware the moles and convergence of sodium hydroxide that had empowered us to locate the obscure grouping of calcium carbonate. Since the genuine level of CaCO3 was not given, we should agree that the exactness of this lab has been influenced and thusly should be surveyed by our vulnerability rate. The percent of vulnerabilities speaks to the erratic blunders that may have happened, which either may make the estimations greater or littler than the acknowledged worth, because of uncertain estimation. One approach to keep away from future irregular blunders, better hardware might be required, or redundancy of the estimations. In spite of the vulnerabilities dependent on lab types of gear and different vehicles of estimations, one of the greatest potential wellsprings of mistake lies in the methodical blunders of this lab, particularly finding the specific endpoint. Despite the fact that the pink shading ought to demonstrate when the endpoint is reached, in preliminary 2 and 3, the arrangement turned a black out pink shading and my accomplices and I didn't know whether that swoon pink showed the endpoint. This could have brought about an estimation lower than the real worth. To potentially improve this wellspring of blunder, I accept additional time and preliminaries ought to be assigned to the understudies. At the point when I was doing my trial, we were just given a solitary class time to follow the methodology, record our notes, and tidy up our investigation. On the off chance that additional time was assigned, at that point greater accounts could be made. This would then give us a more clear thought when the endpoint really is. Next, however it is far-fetched, to improve this lab we may need to flush the burettes and different jars before playing out this lab. In my science homeroom, burettes and flagons are orchestrated with the goal that the spotless ones are plainly observed and named while the pre-owned ones are in the sink. Anyway it could be conceivable that another understudy may have put a messy burette in the bureau brimming with clean types of gear. In this manner, for precision purposes, all hardware ought to be washed utilizing cleanser and tissues. Looking into and understanding the blunders can fundamentally improve this analysis. In spite of the fact that my speculation of the focus being 60% calcium carbonate wasn't right, this test showed me the worth and convenience of the procedure of titration.

She feels as though her female appearance is a blurred . Placing the content into point of view As found in the sonnet Interferer by Susan Hamlin, seen on our educational program. The fact of the matter is unsteady. The primary individual in the sonnet sends a virtual bundle of roses and it delineates the discontinuity of the world and the new industrialization. End Post-innovation arrives at an odd resolution that; We can picture things that don't truly exist We can't picture things that do genuinely exist. Consequently to sum up; The content Sun harming gives a perspective on reality by ONE lady who has her questions about what her identity is. She envisions things about herself that don't genuinely exist, her uncertainty, her sex, her personality. Post-innovation attempts to say a final farewell to the characteristics of innovation; the sentiment of the large city and the industrialization. Question: Examine About The Organizational Informational Systems And Communications? Answer: Presentation Correspondence is a procedure that empowers individuals to share thoughts and perspectives so as to come into understanding. It is through correspondence whereby individuals will show up at sensible understanding after a progression of counsels. Correspondence is immense and obvious in all spots where there is more than one individual and where a choice is to be made. In any business, association correspondence is basic in a way that all the divisions will require criticism and data from one another so that to guarantee the smooth running of the business. In such a composed element, data from one point to the next is passed on by means of an all around characterized framework so as to guarantee there is no coordination breakdown or deferral (Heijden, 2013, p. 44). Data frameworks in any association ought to be very much evolved and well acquainted by the workers to encourage smooth progression of data. From the contextual analysis of Cougar dispatch, the organization has a framework that they use to get data both inside and remotely from their customers. Recognize the Components of Information System in Cougar Carrier Organization Auernhammer, J. Lobby, H., 2014. Authoritative culture in information creation, inventiveness and development: Towards the Freiraum model. Diary of Information Science, 4(2), pp. 22-36. Data frameworks ought to be put in a way that they can connect and interface splendidly to think of a fruitful chain of correspondence. The data framework in Cougar Carrier Company is arranged into four fundamental parts that work together to guarantee the association plays out its capacities properly. The association has the activity emotionally supportive network that helps in the putting away and safeguarding of information in the body (Seruca, Cordeiro, Hammoudi Filipe, 2016, p. 78). There is likewise the exchange handling data framework that is worried about all the activities that the association includes itself. All sort of the administrations going from showcasing the group to all the money related exchanges run in this framework. The preparing control data framework, then again, is the basic part that includes the utilization of PC frameworks to have the option to decipher and transmit data. It is with the implying that crucial data is taken care of to the PC, which will, th us, comprehend the data with the assistance of the introduced working frameworks. It is a significant part as it helps in handling of basic aggregates and contribute in settling on choices for the association. In conclusion, the association has an administration emotionally supportive network that is going by the proprietor of the group. It is the basic piece of the chain of data as they are the ones that ignore on all the procedures that occur in the association's data framework. Sum up the Competitive Forces Experienced by the Organization Zhang, Y. (2012).Future figuring, correspondence, control and the executives. Berlin, Heidelberg: Springer. Cougar Carrier Company is confronted with rivalry from rising organizations that posture to be a danger to their business. The contenders have brought down their costs and have wandered in long far off conveyances where Cougar doesn't work. The new organizations are utilizing further developed methods of transportation that are more effective and quicker than cycling used by Cougar Company. Conveying inside a range of five kilometers is done considerably more quickly than Cougars cyclist does it. As a business that isn't fit to be gone head to head from a business, they need to think of a system that will assist them with recovering their acclaim and their upper hand. To begin with the organization should update on their conveyance modes from cyclists to utilization of bikes and vans (Zhang, 2012, p. 34). The costs to be scaled down to the point that will be the equivalent to that of their rivals and guarantee that they get the chance to publicize themselves more and their new costs. Additionally, the organization should now concentrate on serving their customers offering quality administrations and inside the briefest time conceivable. Executing the above procedures will win back the preferred position the organization had previously. Recognize Three Information Systems that the Organization Should Implement George, J. Zwass, V. (2013).Information frameworks in setting: a casebook. Dubuque, Iowa: Wm. C. Earthy colored. Since the organization will apply the technique of enhancing their methods of conveyance, decreasing costs and quality administrations the organization ought to have the option to receive a data framework that will have the option to screen all the three segments. The quality administration data framework will be answerable for observing and studying of the procedure. It is on the grounds that the technique includes quality and how representatives will be working while in the field in this way they should be prepared on different methods of taking care of customers. Since choices will likewise be made in the association, at that point the board data framework will be the best framework that will be utilized. The framework will help in settling on the basic choice of the organization of when or rate will the costs be decreased (George Zwass, 2013, p. 23). Arriving at this choice will require an exhaustive assortment of information so that to have the option to get the correct costs. F ield operators will be answerable for the assortment of information that will be utilized in settling on costs. The data gave will stumble into the board so that to make certain with the costs. Additionally, a data framework that utilizes the web will likewise be required so that to support the rate at which all the data of the association is handled. Utilizing an intergraded type of working frameworks that are introduced in PCs so that to have the option to buck up all the data of the gathering. All the servers of the association ought to be moved up to have the most recent model of the working framework to perform better than anyone might have expected. The servers will have the option to store all the information and records of the association for future references. The framework is fundamental since it is in the situation to spare and back up the information of the structure for future reference and have the option to help in the running of exercises that may posture to be troublesome. Since the organization was at its place of crumbling, restoring it will involve it utilizing data frameworks that will ensure that it returns to its ordinary activities (McDowall, 2014, p. 88). A quality administration data framework is in the best situation to bring back the organization to the sensible purpose of abuse. The data framework can guarantee that the tasks of the association will be to better expectations than it used to be. It will have the option to settle on sure that all the choices that are made by the group are sound and favor the association's development. Talk about the Feasibility of Implementing Your New Information Systems Klein, B. (2012).An prologue to IMS: your total manual for IBM's Information Management System. Upper Saddle River, NJ: IBM Press. Actualizing the data framework will require the disposing of the past frameworks that were being utilized so that to have the option to oblige the new system. Notwithstanding the new data framework, there will be different frameworks that will go with the framework so that to make it productive. Working data framework will work for inseparably with the favored data framework so that to achieve the necessary goal of the association (Klein, 201, p. 45). It will be fitting if the equipment of the frameworks are upheld up by outer drives so that to guarantee the most extreme assurance and buck up of all the data and information of the association. Framework Some of the Possible Security and Ethical Risks that May Arise Blecker, T. (2015).Information and the executives frameworks for item customization. New York: Springer Science Business Media. Regardless of the way that the favored data framework will be the best, it likewise represents a hazard with regards to the point of slamming if not very much secured. There is the threat of security when there is an outside individual can get to the documents and use them in a way that isn't right. Access by an outsider may prompt the break of the entire framework in this way bringing about the loss of the considerable number of information or even the individual utilizing the record to pass wrong data to the customers. Settling such an issue will mean, that the servers ought to be all around ensured to the point that will consistently be giving an admonition if there is an endeavor to get to it without power. The danger of losing all the documents to be controlled by the way that the association to have an outer back up that is constantly associated and refreshed by all the information that is included (Blecker, 2015, p. 78). Avoiding potential risk now will require the full help o f the association in a way that the organization will make an additional move to prepare more people to work the framework. End Taking everything into account, data frameworks are a fundamental quality in each association that ought to be taken with a ton of unmistakable fascination. Compare how the Union and the Confederacy represented their causes Essay

Think about how the Union and the Confederacy spoke to their causes. What were their individual thoughts of opportunity - Essay Example imary reason for the American common war that saw a monstrous death toll and decimation of property, through endeavors of division on one hand and solidarity on the other (Foner, pp. 49-61). With an end goal to comprehend the American common war and the issue of subjugation, this paper will the association and the alliance through a correlation of how the two groups spoke to their course before just as during the common war. Furthermore, the paper will break down the thoughts that both the unionists just as the Confederacy had on opportunity. The southern and the northern segments of the United States were financially evolved along various lines. The southern states were dominatingly agrarian states with farming being the fundamental financial movement while the northern states went to industrialization. Because of contrasts in the financial arrangement of the two segments, diverse political and social structures created which prompted difference among the lawmakers of the southern and the northern segments on a few issues, for example, levies, worldwide enhancements and tax assessment. The distinctions came about to the common war where the Confederates and Unionists adorned over the issue of servitude as one of their fundamental course of the war. As indicated by the Confederates, bondage was a conventional foundation in their social culture and a huge one in the acknowledgment of monetary advantage for the South. Toward the start of the common war, the south had around 4,000,000 slaves in this way the possibility of opportunity of slaves as proposed by the unionist would meddle with the cultivating exercises of the south. On the side of their course of the requirement for subjection annulment, the unionist pointed at the need to enlist slaves and not own them a move that was dismissed by the South bringing about the common war (Foner, pp. 45-53). States’ rights was another are the place the assessments of the unionists and the Confederates contrasted. States’ right was the battle between the states and the government

5 ways to be more mindful at work Hult Blog

This article was written by Megan Reitz and originally published on May 5, 2015 on  www.ashridge.org.uk/insights There is much about mindfulness in the media, GPs are prescribing the practice, it’s on the Government’s agenda and a plethora of benefits are being extolled by a range of experts for people’s professional as well as personal lives. The Lancet medical journal recently reported that mindfulness-based therapy could offer a ‘new choice for millions of people’ with recurrent depression, The Financial Times has described mindfulness as a ‘quiet revolution†¦gripping the City of London’, claiming that ‘fast-paced financiers are turning to â€Å"mindfulness†Ã¢â‚¬â„¢. A Mindfulness All-Party Parliamentary group is working to increase awareness of how mindfulness can benefit society and the workplace, and the meditative practice with Buddhist roots has already been adopted by big business, including KPMG, Google and GlaxoSmithKline. Previous research, although still limited in work contexts, suggests that people who practise mindfulness at work report an improved ability to communicate clearly and a better ability to handle workplace conflict; they respond more appropriately to stressful situations, show greater self-awareness and perhaps operate more creatively. So what is mindfulness? Jon Kabat-Zinn, ‘The Godfather’ of secular mindfulness training who first developed Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Clinic (MBSR) at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, defines it as ‘a way of paying attention on purpose, in the present moment, and non- judgementally.’ It’s about being in the moment, aware of yourself, others and the world around you. People who are more mindful know what their body is sensing, and they know what they are thinking and feeling. It is also about being kinder to ourselves, about recognising that negative internal chatter can be observed, and then changing that for the better. It’s increasingly accepted that being hyper-busy isn’t necessarily aligned with being efficient and productive at work. Forget multi-tasking focusing on one task at a time improves your productivity and accuracy. Everyone has responded to an email while being on a conference call, or sitting in a meeting, more concerned about another project with a tight deadline than the topic being intently discussed. But this inevitably impacts on your ability to focus, absorb information and really relate to people. Here are five ways to make mindfulness part of your working life: 1. Undertake a daily mindfulness practice. Research has shown that daily meditation practice actually changes the structure of the brain. But don’t expect to achieve these encouraging results if you don’t practice. A useful daily practice is to find a quiet place, and set aside at least 10 minutes. Start by becoming aware of your body and sense how every part feels, moving slowly from your feet up to your head. Is there any tension in the body? Often being aware of the tension is enough to help you relax and adapt your posture to release stress. As you do this exercise, acknowledge thoughts as they come up without judging them one way or another and then return your focus back to your breath and body. When your mind wanders, notice where it goes (for example, a looming deadline, a difficult meeting) and then bring your attention back to your breath. Don’t wrestle your mind’s natural urge to wander, but train it to return to the present. There’s no point in fighting with your own mind – that just makes things worse. Understand that thoughts come and go; that is just part of being human. For some guided meditations to help you get started see Michael Chaskalson’s recordings. 2. Take a regular mindful minute. Count the number of breaths you take when you are relaxed in one minute. Then, when you feel under pressure, pause, focus in and replicate this number of breaths at the same pace. Breathing can help focus your awareness on the present. The breath is a mindfulness tool that you have on hand at all times. Pay particularly close attention to your breathing before an important meeting or when you’re feeling intense emotions. For example, if you are under pressure and you feel your stress levels rising, and you’re just about to respond to a curt email with a similarly, abrupt, brusque retort, don’t press ‘send’. Instead, stop for just a minute and pay attention, on purpose, to your breath. 3. Commit to doing one regular activity mindfully a day. This could be waiting for the train, making your first cup of tea at work, routine filing or photocopying. While you are doing that take the opportunity to notice your thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. Be present. 4. Practise mindful relating. Pick a conversation and practise being really ‘present’ with the other person. How many of us have spent time with someone but have been thinking about what we need to do in the future? Or thinking about what we want to say next, instead of really listening to that person? Instead, focus on the person in front of you right now. Notice your thoughts, feelings and sensations whilst you listen – you may realise that you connect and empathise so much more with the other person which they are likely to really appreciate. This practice can be particularly useful when engaging in challenging or potentially emotional conversations at work. All workplaces are characterised by high-pressure and tensions sometimes – empathising through mindfulness can help staff feel valued, promote rebound and release stress. 5. Take a walk outside without your phone to give yourself ‘headspace’ and help de-clutter your mind. Getting up and moving around can encourage you to become more focused and mindful of the present. A Report Of The It Call Center Case Essay - 1579 Words

We want to discuss a little bit about the executive summary of the IT call center case before doing the evaluation. Here the IT service company is worried about their about their service as their competitors are doing well in the market. The company officials decided to apply Six Sigma techniques like DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), Benchmarking to find the root cause of the problem. While going through the process they found that their competitors are ahead of them in terms of Support cost ($36 for the company on an average which is far expensive). Doing further analysis with the DMAIC project the company tried to predict New Account Growth taking number of transfers, wait time and service as the independent variables. The results indicated that wait time and service are the two factors that affects New Account Growth. The Define phase indicated that the key stakeholders are the customers, staff members and the business. The D1 project charter indicated that the Goal statement element should target 90th percentile = 85% from 75% within the fourth quarter without changing the support costs. The D2 phase is the customer requirements where the company wants to implement SIPOC (Suppliers, Processes, Outputs and Customers) to identify important customers, staff and businesses. The officials plan to conduct VOC (Voice of Customers) to know the level of customer satisfaction with the current levels of service offered. Plastic Surgery A Debate - 916 Words

1. Supporter: Plastic surgery is probably one of the most important technologies developed in the recent years, considering the numerous benefits that it provides people with. Image is everything in the contemporary society and it would be unfortunate if some nature prevented some perfectly capable individuals from properly integrating the social order. Also, we mustnt forget about individuals who perform plastic surgery because they were either born with an abnormality or because they suffered an accident (Panjari, M., Bell, R. J., Fradkin, P., Davis, S. R.). These people find it very difficult to be accepted and thus need to focus on removing some of their imperfections with the purpose of being able to succeed. Surely, society is unjust, but considering that one of the only solution is to join the social order in appreciating particular values it would be wrong for someone to deny themselves the right to look better. Opponent: I agree that the present-day society greatly emphasizes the importance of physical appearance, but social acceptance is not the only method to build self-esteem. A healthy society also appreciates its members as a result of the way that they think and as a consequence of the way that they act. Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution - 1577 Words

No man has been as influential in the history of evolutionary science as Charles Darwin, a prominent British naturalist, geologist and botanist who came to solidify himself in these fields of studies in the nineteenth century. In 1831, Darwin embarked on a British government-sponsored voyage on the HMS Beagle to the coast of South America and several remote islands in the Pacific, where he closely observed the landforms and natural species that were native to these parts of the world, which he had never encountered before. Upon confronting these previously unidentified species, he made numerous observations, took copious notes in his journals and collected meticulous samples on these islands. The voyage lasted for five years, and upon†¦show more content†¦Darwin’s exploration to the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific was truly transformative in what he was able to encounter on these isolated and remote islands that allowed these indigenous species to develop in their r eclusiveness. Having the seclusion of natural developments of these species, Darwin was able to make the connections in which he does based upon the native animals in their isolated environments. During his expedition to the Galapagos, Darwin encountered a variety of plants and animals, which he noticed differed in appearance on each separate island. The unique shape and patterns on the shell of giant tortoises varied based on their location and distinguished them from one another. Darwin also paid meticulous attention to the abundant diversity of the bird species on these islands, including four different species of mockingbirds and thirteen types of finches. Similar to the tortoise, the finches had each developed uniquely on each island to the extent where they didn’t appear to be related; the birds were visibly distinct from one another (See Appendix I). As observed and recorded in his bound works, Darwin states that the â€Å"most curious fact is the perfect gradation in the size of the beaks in the different species of Geospiza, from one as large as that of a hawfinch to that of a chaffinch, and even to that of a warbler.† Certain birds

The Greenhouse Effect Persuasive Essay Example For Students

The Greenhouse Effect Persuasive Essay The Greenhouse EffectOur world is suffering, and it is suffering from something people callthe Greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is caused by humans overpollution of the earth. If we do not stop this soon the earth will die. We have caused this over many years of over industrialization in thisgrowing world. We think that bigger is better, so we make vehicles bigger andbetter, and we make pretty much everything else bigger as well. So we makelarger factories to build these larger things, and these larger factoriesrelease larger amounts of pollution. Scientist have been predicting the outcome of this change for years now,but none of these scientists believe in the same thing. The ones that do thinkthat it will come at a different time. So people are still optimistic on whatis going to happen, and when it is going to take place. First, to understand what the greenhouse effect is, we must firstunderstand what a Greenhouse is. A Greenhouse is a building made either ofclear plastic sheets, or of glass. The suns rays go through the glass, andheat up the air inside the building, and they have a hard time getting out. These rays get trapped inside the building, and continually heat the air inside, and even through the night the rays stay in and heat the air. The greenhouse isalso called a HOT HOUSE because it gets so hot. The greenhouse effect is caused by gases such as carbon monoxide, carbondioxide, and nitrogen escaping into the atmosphere. These gases get trapped inthe ozone layer and do not let the suns rays escape very easily. This causesthe earth to warm up. This warming can cause droughts, and this would reallyaffect the farmers. This heating up will cause the plants and animals would die. Social Issues

Decision Making for the Solar Energy-Free Samples for Students

Questions: 1.Critically analyse the Impact of lowering the Goods and Services Tax (GST) levy on batteries from 28% to 5% on battery market in India, all else being equal. 2.Critically analyse the Impact of lowering the GST on batteries from 28% to 5% on Electric Vehicle (EV) market in India. 3.Critically analyse the Impact of lowering the GST on batteries from 28% to 5% on petrol vehicle market in India. 4.Does the Proposal of lowering GST on batteries by solar energy storage Manufacturers help the Governments push towards reaching a 100 per cent Electric Vehicle (EV) nation by 2030? Answers: Decision Making for the Solar Energy Storage Manufacturers 1.The current goods and service tax for batteries in India is very high at 28% (Mishra, 2017). This is an interpretation that the costs of battery production are very high. Tax is one of the most important cost of production that cannot be avoided. This is the reason why most of the times it distorts the level of production. The producing firms are requesting a reduction of this GST to 5% so that they will be able to produce efficiently at a lower cost. If the proposal is accepted and the GST is lowered to 5%, the price for batteries will fall; this is because, goods produced at a lower cost are sold at a lower price (Autocarindia.com, 2017). The lower price will lead to the demand for batteries rising to a higher level; there will be an increase in quantity of batteries produced since the lower cost will stimulate the producing companies to produce more output. On the other hand, the consumers increased demand will create a need for increased production and since these companies have that potential, quantity produced will rise. The consumer surplus will rise since they will be willing to pay more for the batteries but the price offered will be cut. The producer surplus will fall since they will be willing to sell at a higher price, but will be selling at a lower market price. Fig: Demand for batteries after GST is lowered At the GST of 28% on batteries, the price for the batteries was at level P and the quantity for batteries demanded was Q. The lowering of the GST to 5% will result in the price falling from P to P1. This price will stimulate additional demand; demand will increase from Q to Q1. The arrows show the price and the quantity movement; the movement is on opposite direction and thus the inverse demand curve. 2.Rechargeable batteries are a compliment to the production of electric vehicles (Economicpoint.com, 2016). Thus, the lowering of GST to 5% will increase the demand for electric vehicles. In economics, if the price of a compliment good falls, the demand for the other good goes up (Munson, 2014). Owing to the lower price of batteries which is an input to Electronic Vehicle (EV), the price for EV will also be lower. At a lower price, the demand for EV will rise. Since the input prices are lower, the short run profit will be higher (economic profits). In the long run the battery storage manufactures will be making only normal profits since competition will rise. Fig: Demand for complement goods At the GST of 28% on batteries, the price for the batteries was at level P and the quantity for electronic vehicles demanded was Q. The lowering of the GST to 5% will result in the price falling from P to P1. This will cause an increased demand for the complement good which is the electronic vehicles. Complement goods have an inverse demand curve and thats why the movement is on opposite directions (Hill, 2017). The lowering of price for one good consequently leads to a cut in the price for the other good making it more attractive to the consumers. The demand thus goes up. 3.As have been noted earlier, the lowering of GST to 5% will result in lower prices for electronic vehicles and thus their demand will increase. Since batteries are substitutes to petrol, a reduction in the price for batteries will increase demand for electronic vehicles but on the other hand, it results in a decrease in the demand for petrol vehicles (Pettinger, 2012). Fig: Demand for substitute goods At the GST of 28% on batteries, the price for the batteries was at level P and the quantity for petrol vehicles demanded was Q. The lowering of the GST to 5% will result in the price falling from P to P1. This will cause a decrease in demand for the substitute good which is the petrol vehicles. The demand curve for substitute goods is positively sloped and this is indicated by movement of price and the demand in the same direction (Aggarwal, 2011). Economically, when the price for a specific good falls, its demand rises; the increased demand causes the demand for the substitute good to be less attractive and thus demand for substitutes falls. 4.Yes. The proposal made by the solar energy storage manufactures to lower GST on batteries to 5% will definitely help the government in achieving its goal of reaching 100% level of electronic vehicle usage by 2030. We have seen that the cut in batteries GST will raise the demand for electronic vehicles by reducing the demand for petrol oil. Indiatimes.com (2017) noted that the price of batteries has been going up obstructing the governments vision. The Minister of state Power, Coal, New Renewable Energy should therefore consider intervention by lowering the GST on batteries for the solar energy storage manufactures. However, it is not clear whether this will actually be the case because we know that the increased demand for electronic vehicles will result in increased price. And also we know that the reduced demand for petrol will results in a reduced petrol price due to oversupply. However irrespective of these controversies, the minister should consider lowering the GST to 5% as it will in fact raise the demand for electronic vehicles. References Aggarwal, K. (2011). Was John D. Rockefeller A Robber Baron Essays - Rockefeller Family

Was John D. Rockefeller A Robber Baron? PART ONE - Issue #2: Was John D. Rockefeller a Robber Baron? A robber baron was someone who employed any means necessary to enrich themselves at the expense of their competitors. Did John D. Rockefeller fall into that category or was he one of the captains of industry, whose shrewd and innovative leadership brought order out of industrial chaos and generated great fortunes that enriched the public welfare through the workings of various philanthropic agencies that these leaders established? In the early 1860s Rockefeller was the founder of the Standard Oil Company, who came to epitomize both the success and excess of corporate capitalism. His company was based in northwestern Pennsylvania. A major question historians have disagreed on has been whether or not John D. Rockefeller was a so-called robber baron. Matthew Josephson agreed that Rockefeller was indeed a robber baron. In the book Taking Sides, He claims that Rockefeller was a deceptive and conspiratorial businessman, whose fortune was built by secret agreements and wrung concessions from Americas leading railroad companies (Taking Sides 25). When John D. Rockefeller merged with the railroad companies, he had gained control of a strategic transportation route that no other companies would be able to use. Rockefeller would then be able to force the hand on the railroads and was granted a rebate on his shipments of oil. This was a kind of secret agreement between the two industries. None of the competition knew what the rates were for the rebates or the rates that Rockefeller was paying the railroad. This made it hard for the competition to keep up with the Standard Oil Company. The consequences led to many oil companies getting bought out by Rockefeller secretly. All in all, 25 companies surrendered to Rockefellers relentless expansion, which was 20% of the oil industry in America. John D. Rockefeller and his comrades had stolen a long march on their 3 opponents, their tactics shaped themselves already as giant industrialists of the future conquering the pigmies. Josephson said, Entrenched at the narrows of the mighty river of petroleum, they could no more be dislodged than those other barons, who had planted their castles along the Rhine(Taking Sides 35). Ralph W. Hidey and Muriel E. Hidey disagreed with Josephson. In the book Taking Sides, They believe that John D. Rockefeller and his associates created and applied a system for operating a large integrated industrial enterprise, which was one of the earliest representatives of Big Business. He contributed to the development of American petroleum industry and through it to the growth of the economy. The Hideys believed that Rockefellers greatest contribution, beyond the concept of Standard Oil combination itself, was the persuasion of strong men to join the alliance and to work together effectively in its management. Oil policies went deep into the personalities and early experiences of Rockefeller and his colleagues. They had heightened uncertainty and speculation about their activities by their secrecy in building the alliance and by their evasive and legal testimony on the witness stand. There tended to be aroused antagonism because the very newness and size dominance, and efficiency of the combination. The antagonism also ran as far as the absorption of Rockefellers competitors in adversity and its search for the lowest possible railroad rates. The Standard Oil Company has done great work in the sense that oil refining has been simply reduced to a business and transportation. The Standard Oil Company brought a measure of order to a formerly confused industry. Anton Chaitkin agreed that John D. Rockefeller was indeed a robber baron of his time. In Treason of America, he disputes his argument by stating that in the 1860s Rockefeller ruthlessly consolidated oil refineries and oil-carrying railroads so as to create a giant trust known as Standard Oil. This trust controlled nearly all the oil in America. The monopolization of oil was very difficult to maintain for Rockefeller because many reformists were making allegations to right the wrongs of Standard Oil. Twice, the company was taken to the Supreme Court and dissolved. Rockefeller was vilified in the press and in popular literature as perhaps no other figure in American history has been vilified (Chiatkin 327). However, there appeared to be other reformers that came
